Designed by Tore Herlin and included in his own book on sailboat design she won many races in her
early years and has since sailed many miles. Marianne is the only Skerry cruiser 75 designed by Tore
Herlin and the largest Skerry cruiser he ever built. Designed for sailing the west coast of Sweden she
is more like a Meter 8 class yacht in her hull and she broader and more sea worthy than the usual more
fin keeled skerrycruisers as she is designed for the more open sea on the west coast of Sweden. Tore
Herlin is also well known for making sea worthy boats and spent his life on balancing the parameters
speed, accommodation and sea worthiness something which shines trough in all his designs. In her
launch year she was featured in Yachting Monthly with a very positive article. She was originally built
for the CEO of the Swedish tobacco company.
Marianne was built in Färjenäs during 1915 and 1916 from the finest Honduras mahogany both
interior and hull, her original interior remains untouched which is very rare for these boats. Her hull
under the waterline was completely redone by boat builder Tomas Larsson during the 90´s after this
her epoxy coating was removed and the topsides was renovated thoroughly. Before the current owner
purchased her she has spent ten years or more stored inside a barn in the north of Sweden and before
this she was renovated by the previous owners so during the last 20 or so years she has been mostly
out of the water.
