Antinea
According the story of the yacht Antinea, she got her name after a Greek goddess. Nobody remembers why, and which goddess. There is no Greek goddess named Antinea, that is.
It is possible that the 1921 movie "L'Atlantide" has had an effect on Antinea's name, since in the movie queen Antinea reigns the last pieces the city of of Atlantis.
The Classic 6mR -yacht Antinea
Antinea was completed the year 1928 from Rajasaari shipyard for Nils-Erik and Göran Hongell. It is the third 6mR yacht designed by Einar Olofsson. Antinea has had plenty of owners, the present owners bought her from Sweden in 1990. At the time she was in disastrous shape, and before returning to her original splendour, she had to go though the seven years of renovation. The "new" Antinea was launched in fall 1998 and the present crew had it's first sailing trip with their historically valuable yacht.
The Future of Antinea
Antinea has competed for four summers in the Finnish rankings. The crew is getting better every year, and has it's goals set high.
